Satellite hotspots are raw thermal detections. They can include industrial heat, flares, and agricultural burns, and are not confirmed wildfires. Fire icons show agency-reported incidents.

NASA now requires a free FIRMS MAP_KEY to draw hotspots. Add one in js/config.js (get a key). Controls stay wired for when a key is set.

Hotspot opacity reduced so air quality stays readable.

Red flag warnings are issued for the United States only.
